Change ringtone for Find my Phone

I've had Garmin vivosomething (fit sport smart, etc) watches for several years now and I've always been less than dazzled by the lack of customization, moreso now that it has been years since I've been lamenting the lack of options.

I have a sound sensitive kid who freaks out when I use the Find my Phone feature, which stinks because I have four small children and zero short term memory.  I hesitate to root my phone because of the potential for hacks, but I might be willing to do it if it means I can put something noticable but gentle in place of the blaring alarm.

I'd also really love to be able to change the face to something other than the six options they give you...some color or font size/orientation options...idk why in this day and age you are locked in to the same six watch faces they've had for years.

Honestly, Find my Phone is probably the #1 thing that keeps me coming back to Garmin watches. If there were more personalization options I'd never even consider another brand.

  • What could perhaps work, is triggering the phone search, and while it is ringing, adjusting the volume with the help of up/down buttons on your phone. I believe that the last used ringing volume is then re-used next time too.

  • Good idea! I will give it a try.

I was told by a reddit user that the ringtone itself is a phone setting, but it's not a sound I've heard my phone make any other time.  Is it some sort of emergency alarm? My system default alarm sound is Bright Morning, so it's not that.

  • The phone tone may be a setting on the phone, though it may be also generated directly by the app. Hard to tell without seeing the code. But the volume trick should work. At least I saw it reported previously by other users on this forum
