Livetrack Issues

Livetrack set up correctly and linked to Strava beacon, was working fineup until about a week ago and now sends a link to my safety contact that says I'm running, not cycling and my safety contact cannot follow my ride as it says the activity has not started. I have reinstalled both Strava and Connect but the problem remains, I leave connect running throughout my ride as I always have, advice please?

  • Some Edge users reported problems with Live Track and Garmin Connect v4.30. For me it continues to work all right even with this version (using Garmin Instinct). Garmin is aware of the issue and works on a fix. The other users were able to restore the functionality by reverting to the GCM version 4.29 (installed from an APK archive).

I also noticed that LiveTrack has stopped working reliably, after many months good service. I always take the latest Connect Mobile Android app and have reliable mobile data coverage. My Edge/Connect data logging is accurate and also able to upload over mobile data. It's just the LiveTrack that no longer knows when I start and end my ride, using the usual button/screen options. I appreciate that many customers are using LiveTrack but that population is known to Garmin so this service should be sized appropriately and resilient in use, which it is not presently.

  • I hate to say "me too" but I've noticed exactly the same issue.  I would just use the Strava app to send a beacon to my safety contact and ignore Connect, but using the phone's GPS for the Strava app eats the heck out of my phone battery, and Connect also collects my heart rate and cadence.  It worked just fine until about a week ago.  Very annoying.
