badges not earned for activities

I recently bought a Fenix 5 watch and I am not being given badges from my previous activities on my Forerunner 405. The previous activity shows up in the app in activities under my personal records with all of the GPS data in the app, but no badges earned. Why not??????

The activity is from 2010. Only activities newer than Apr 3, 2018 apply for the badges 5-Mile Ride, 10-Mile Ride, 20-Mile Ride. You can always verify the validity of a badge in its description on Garmin Connect…

Try editing the title of the activity. In many cases this makes Garmin Connect reevaluate the activity for badges. I got several badges for very old activities this way.

What badges exactly and what activities?

So if I go to cycling under activities, and view personal records, my longest ride is 57.03 mi that was done with my Forerunner 405. All GPS data for this ride is in the app. When I go to my badges, my 20 mile ride and 50 mile ride says that I have not earned this badge.

The activity is from 2010. Only activities newer than Apr 3, 2018 apply for the badges 5-Mile Ride, 10-Mile Ride, 20-Mile Ride. You can always verify the validity of a badge in its description on Garmin Connect Web. When you click the badge, a window pops up, and at the bottom, there is the release date of the badge. Only activities newer than the release date can be rewarded by the respective badge.
