Elevation gain incorrect in Garmin 235

Elevation gain Garmin 235. Ran a 5 mile out and back today that is part of a 10 mile out and back I ran a few weeks ago. Elevation gain for the entire 10 mile was  560. Today the 5 mile said gain of 1,300+   That is impossible. Anyone else?

  • Can you share a link from Garmin Connect Web to the 2 activities in question?

  • Consider calibrating your altimeter before each run.The atmospheric pressure tends to change, and hence the barometric altimeter needs to be calibrated frequently. On some watches there is an option for automatic calibration during the activity (using GPS or DEM).

Alternatively (and also retrospectively), you can simply whenever turn on the option Elevation Correction on the page of the activity on the web version of Garmin Connect. It then recalculates the elevation profile, using topographic data, instead of the data from the altimeter.
