Latest updare to the GCM app crippled the 945 connection

Hey guys,

the latest update to the android GCM (4.30) rendered the connection to the 945 useless. I have to close everything, turn bt off, turn back on - it will sync  but only a couple of times. Afterwards it will display the 945 as not connected and will have to restart the whole scenario. The phone is a Sony Xperia XZ2 compact with Android 10.

Thanks,

Tudor

  • Works still fine on my side, but there are diverse possibilities what might have gone wrong in your case - check out a rather complete list of them in the Sync / Connection Troubleshooting Guide

  • unfortunately went already through the list Disappointed - my bet is a bug has been introduced in this last version. from what i can also tell is that the sony bt chipset has not the most friendly implemented stack :-) - so perhaps some improvements (on the garmin side i mean) to the communication protocol might have actually crippled it. le: it worked flawless until this update...

Frankly told, I do not quite believe it. More likely you just threw a quick glance on it, without even reading it. Otherwise, in the worst case, you would finish at the #20, and installed the previous version, which could then support your argument about a bug in the last version. Still, more likely than a bug, would be the simple fact of reinstalling the app that cleared the cache. Though, that would not be necessary if you tried the preceding tips for clearing diverse types of caches on the phone.

my bet is a bug has been introduced in this last version

I cannot exclude a bug, of course, but consider the possibility highly unlikely, because we would see a sudden surge of complaints from hundreds of users here on the forum, which happens whenever a new bug is introduced.
