ANGI specializes app

I know Garmin has it's own bike and wrist based crash detection app but when, like wahoo, are you going to link to the specialized app for ANGI which is becoming increasingly popular with cyclists. I've switched from wahoo a while ago but I now think I'm missing out.

  • Linking ANGi to the watch is useless, since both the watch and ANGi need a GSM enabled device (a phone) for sending the incident alert. Hence linking it it to the watch would not bring any advantage. You need to link it to the phone.

I'm talking about linking it to the 530 series

... and what differrence it makes? As far as I know, Edge 530 does not have any GSM communication capability, or does it?

With respect Im not sure you understand how it works have a look at how wahoo have integrated the specialized app.Once you've looked at that then maybe you can understand the advantages of having the unit displaying the crash alert incident countdown and starting when the ride starts it's just easier. Yes the 530 would be linked via the phone to the app.

  • Yes, you are right, I know nothing about it. So the ANGi sensor does not have any way to stop the coundown without an external device? In that case I understand better the request, but am afraid that nobody from Garmin will see it here, on the user forum. You better submit it through https://www.garmin.com/forms/ideas/

Thanks I picked up the ideas link from a previous post of yours very useful I have now submitted it as an idea! The ANGI app has various facilities on the phone it's just do much easier if it's all in front of you on the garmin unit particularly if theres a false alert which you might not spot on your phone or stop the bike quickly enough to fumble around with the phone to cancel it  etc. etc. Thank you for your comments.

  • Yes, I understand now. Make sure that you write it as clearly (and briefly) as in your last post, when submitting it to Garmin. The person making the triage of the idea-submit-box may be as ignorant as myself about the ANGi, and might throw it away, in the same way I was rejecting it in my initial post too.

    Hi there!

I‘m curious... did you hear anything from Garmin concerning the idea that you submitted?

This is a user forum, so do not expect a reply here. And if you used the Idea submission form, then they explicitely write the following there:

    1. Garmin receives many ideas. While we wish we could answer each submission, it is not possible, and you may not hear back from us.
    2. ...

They receive countless suggestions and requests all the time, so only the most frequently asked ones, or those with the highest added value have some chance to be implemented.
