why is my sleeping time interrupted during the night?

Hi everybody. For some reason, my sleeping time is very often reduced for actual timing because my Fenix 5 doesn't seem be able to record what's happening.

It gives charts like this with a "non mesurable part".

This is pretty boring and all the analysis is f***** up because of this. I think Garmin's analysis should consider that if I was sleeping before and after this lack of available data, I was most probably sleeping.

Actually, my fitbit watch was much better than this apparently, which is a bit annoying, considering, it is 3 times cheaper.

Garmin, please, solve this!

  • I think Garmin's analysis should consider that if I was sleeping before and after this lack of available data, I was most probably sleeping.

In contrary, I think it definitely should not. It should report only what it can measure, and not serving you some wild speculations (as many other devices very likely do). It is up to you to interpret the results in the way you want - if you see a non-measured gap, it must stay your choice to interpret it. It definitely should not be Garmin Connect to tell that you were sleeping or not, when it could not measure your HR.

In this case, I would love to be able to modify the entry so the information is corrected. I tried to find a way to do it, but I couldn't. Is there anything as such?

  • No, there is not. The sleep analysis is only based on the HRM and motion data, and those are intentionally not editable (because of contractual reasons with insurances, who increasingly rely on fitness devices for the calculation of health benenefits, and do not wish that users can modify the data easily).

Wow that's even worse than I thought!
I'm going to dump that *** which is directly out from George Orwell's 1984!

It is not what you think. Nobody sends your data to the insurance without your consent. Some insurance agencies may give you rebates if you can document healthy life-style, and they either equip you with a fitness device, or will provide you an interface for sharing the data with them. It is comprehensible that they do not want that you could manipulate the data before sending them, but if you do not wish doing so, nobody can force you.
