Can Courses be drawn outside of roads for instance for trail running, mountainbiking and hiking using Google together with Garmin Connect?

When trying to draw a manual Course the through Garmin Connect the course can only follow roads? Even if selecting off-road activities?

    I do not use the phone up for creating courses, so do not know how to do it there, but with Garmin Connect Web it is possbile easily - simply select the mode "Freehand" instead of "Follow Roads" in the left upper corner of the window. Another possibility is saving an existing Activity as Course.
