Intensity Minites

Having read about and posted regarding TE I can almost understand Garmins argument that TE is a third party product licensed per device.  Intensity minutes is entirely another beast.  Garmin connect has all the required data ‘server side’ to perform this operation.  Bearing I’m mind future insurance company’s (eg vitality) May be basing premiums on the levels of intensity it would be a great driver to move away from Garmin as your main data platform.  This in turn would potentially affect the choice hardware.  Come on Garmin sort this out,

  • Come on Garmin sort this out

I am afraid your message did not translate correctly. Maybe you better post it in your native language. Or could you try explaining better what should Garmin sort out? What is TE? What is the problem with Intensity Minutes you experience? What is the problem with the insurance?

  • TE is Training Effect - Garmin claim is that it can only be calculated if the activity is recorded on a Garmin device that contains the correct (Truebeat ?) license.  Surely, customer has bought a license when a device is purchased and expects to see TE even if the source of the FIT file is a third party service such as ZWIFT.  In my opinion the FIT file provides all of the required data to create TE server side and this is how it should be calculated. Not providing TE distorts the customers training records

Intensity Minutes - It would seem Garmin has made a change to server side calculations and intensity minutes are now calculated regardless of source (ZWIFT).

Insurance - Now Intensity Minutes are correctly recorded, this issue is resolved.

Please let me know if you require any further clarity,

I have yet to come across a tool that translates from Queens English to the US....Version..  ;-)

  • Surely, customer has bought a license

Not sure if you realise that you do not speak to Garmin here, but to other users just like you, who try to help others, and do not necessarily have tons of time to spend in writing extensive replies 50 times a day (yes, most queries repeat over and over, and those who try to help others here, have to explain the same topics again and again, hence they may not always have the time and the appetite to go into lenghty discussions).

So what tmk2 wanted to tell, is that it is not you who purchased the license from Firstbeat. Gamin pays Firstbeat per-device licences, and hence might not have the right to use the technology from Firstbeat for any other puposes (like for example processing of data imported form 3rd parties).
