Calories consumed in connect is far higher than what's logged in MFP

Calories consumed in connect is far higher than MFP it seems to be calculating actual consumed + exercise from connect - active from connect. So the entire calculation is simply off and making it look like I'm eating like a piggy and not a mouse. Bit demotivating when trying to lose weight and wanting to see green. This seems to have happened over the last few days. Anyone else seeing this?

  • Change your "Activity Class" to "7" and leave it there.

In MFP, change your activity level to "sedentary/not very active" - this facilitates MFP pulling all of your burn data from Garmin Connect instead of taking wild guesses.

  • Thanks. I'll try this and see what happens over  the next few days then veridy. The info in MFP has been correct and it's pulled the right numbers from connect. It's in connect that its been getting the consumed amount wrong. So somewhere in the sync between the two the maths has been off.

  • CJOttawa's advices may help with burned calories issues, but your case is different. My Calories transfer from MFP to GC exactly as entered. Can you post a screenshot both from MFP and GC demonstrating the discrepancy? Perhaps we can localize the problem better.

    Also, try the following:

    1. Go to Calories In/Out in GC Web (not the phone app!) and note the value of Calories Consumed
    2. Go to MFP and enter fixed Calories intake of for example 100 Cal (you can use the Quick Tools for that)
    3. Go back to GC Web Calories In/Out and click the link Sync Now and note the Calories Consumed again
    4. Post the results here

I was having the same issue. If you are adding a food item to the MFP app and then deleting the item because you decided not to consume it, it is deleting the item on the app. However, if you log in to the MFP web page, said item still appears. I logged in on the MFP web page and deleted the food item there, then refreshed GC and it fixed the cal consumed.

  • Thanks this has officially done the trick. Thank you!

  • Thanks for the response, the discrepancy is indeed between web and app. I deleted certain items in the app but the web platform didn't pick it up.
