Is there a way to make a run not count towards training metrics after it's been synced?

I occasionally do trail runs on hilly, muddy terrain and obviously my heart rate is higher and my pace is slower than on flat roads.  Usually, I remember to select "Trail Run" on my watch, and it ignores the unusually slow pace/high heart rate and it doesn't count it against me in my training metrics (VO2 max, training productivity, etc).

Today, I forgot to select Trail Run and accidentally just did a regular run, so now Garmin Connect thinks I'm severely out of shape.  I've edited the run on garmin connect from Run to Trail Run, but my training stats haven't changed.  My watch is looking at a run that I perceived as easy, and thinking it was threshold effort.  Is there a way to make Garmin Connect not count this run against me?  Would deleting the run altogether solve the issue?  Can I force a training metric recalculation somehow?

  • Try changing the Event Type of the activity from Training to Fitness or Uncageorized, or whatever fits better.

The Event Type is just under the activity name on the detailed activity page in Garmin Connect Web. On GC Mobile you have to tap the tripple dot symbol up right, select Edit Activity, and scroll down to Event Type.

PS: it is possible the change won't be reflected immediately, and that it can take up to a few hours, or perhaps even until the next training.
