Garmin watch showing the wrong units

Okay, so I will try to explain this as good as possible.

I just bought Forerunner 45s. I have only used it on a treadmill. I use metric units, and chose that in the app. When I run on the treadmill, the watch give me the correct number of kilometers I have run, but the unit is miles somehow? During the activity it gives me laps every mile i run also. So even tho I think the watch has registered the right amount in kilometers, when I syncronise to the app, the app converts it to kilometers.

Example:Yesterday I ran 5.5 km on the mill for 35 min. The watch also showed 5.5 (something). But after syncronising, the app showed 8.85 km. That is 5.5 MILES converted to km, but I rand 5.5 KILOMETERS

After some clicking around, I found the settings on the watch itself, and also there it said 'metric units'. SO, can anyone please tell me how to fix this? I dont want people on Strava to think im better than I will ever be, haha!

  • Try changing the units on the watch to miles, restart the watch, set it back to metric units, and reboot the watch again. Change then also the length of the auto-lap feature in Run activity settings to 1km. And to make sure, better reboot again. All that rebooting is perhaps not needed, but you better do it, just to be sure.

This worked!! Thank you so much! :D

  • Nice. Thanks for the feedback. I did not hope much, but remembered I saw one similar case at another user of an old model (FR35), so told myself it may be worth of trying.
