Swimming activity: units of metrics

Since the last update, the unit of metrics for swimming activities are now in kilometer instead of meter.

Pace (m:s/100m) has been replaced by speed (km/h) or pace (m:s/1km).

Could it be possible to roll back to the original units which are more relevant in my opinion)?

  • Since the last update, the unit of metrics for swimming activities are now in kilometer instead of meter.

Where exactly? I just looked at my past swim activities and they are still in meters. Have no recent ones, though. Do you see kms at past activities too?

  • Well I did nothing (but posting a message on this forum) and it looks like it is back to "normal" now but I confirm that between the last update and my initial message, units were in kilometers.

  • Hm, the last update of GCM - the version 4.27.1 is around two weeks old. And there was no update today either. Was it in km all that time? I did not notice it.

  • Ah, I see you have a French name, so I guess the meaning was lost in translation - by "update" you probably did not mean the update of the GCM software, but rather the watch syncing, am I right?

  • No I meant the update of GCM (Android version); data on Garmin Connect (web version) has always been correct.
I did notice that on my mobile after the update distance, pace, speed for Swimming activities were in km instead of meter.
Weirdly it was back to meter this afternoon (after this message).
    Anyway, it is ok now.

  • Well the issue is back this morning after synchronizing a swimming activity.

  • Well after restarting my mobile, the units are back to meters.

Is there a sync problem between Forerunner 945 and GCM?

  • What you show seems to be a triathlon activity, not a swimming activity, so I guess the total values for all disciplines mixed use km, while values just for the swimming would be in meters.

  • Nope, I guess you are confused about the word Trithlon in the screenshot.

This word is a reference of my club "Courbevoie Triathlon" and is only used in the title of the activity.

The activity type is Pool swim (Natation en piscine).

  • Well, when you see it happening again, just try closing the application (either by sliding it up in the task manager, or in Android settings » Apps » Connect » Force close), and then restarting, to see whether it changes.
