Badges Earned but not showing up?

I'm not earning points for Challenges I've won, or adding an Activity today, Feb 29 Take The Leap. Other Badges that I've WON show up as "Available" but I haven't earned them yet?

  • Was there anything unusual about today's activity? Was the activity recorded on a Garmin device then synced with Garmin Connect?

    1. I added snowshoeing and Yoga on the same device I always use. I synced several times to no avail. I always use the Garmin Connect App for all activities. Thank you for your prompt reply.
  • If you added the activities in Garmin Connect manually, then you won't get any badge for them. Badges are not awarded for manually entered activities. You have to start the activity on your watch.

    • No, they are Badges for activities I've added from Garmin list, workouts, and steps
  • No, they are Badges for activities I've added from Garmin list, workouts, and steps

Sorry, I do not understand at all what you mean by this. How did you add the activities? Did you start them on the watch, or not? If yes, then did you sync the activities after you ended and saved them? Can you share one of the activities and post the link here?

  • And as for the Challenge Champ badge - you get that one for winning a Connection Challenge only, as written in its description. You won't get the badge for winning the automated Weekly steps Challenge with random participants, or for winning a group challenge, it only works for challenges with your own connections.

For the Take the Leap badge, as I already wrote, you need to have an activity you started on the watch, not one you added in Garmin Connect.

  • Is this still the case?

If so, that is a design fault and I feel should be rectified.

  • What is still the case? Cubby59 didn't answer the questions from trux so we don't know if it was a user fault or an issue with Garmin Connect. It is not a design fault that manually added activities do not count for badges. It is by design and follows the rules that Garmin has set up and informed the users about: https://support.garmin.com/sv-SE/?faq=6pECo6UIFn7ergw8kNmfu9
It is even rule number 1 if the list is in some sort of order. If you think about it becomes obvious why. Garmin's main business is the hardware.

I spend a lot of time here in the forum and mostly answer questions about badges and challenges and I don't see any general issues with how the badges and challenges are working. Most issues with badges and challenges are caused by the user. Often by not recording the activity with a Garmin device, not doing the full distance or not joining the challenge.

  • Hey e7andy,

Apologies for not responding. I am getting a left should implant in a few weeks. Had the right side done a year ago. My right side never recovered and my back is also an issue. My son was in the hospital and off work for 6 months so I've been staying with his family often. I was very frustrated and finally Garmin replaced my Vivosport device. What I was trying to explain is when I complete a Garmin event and earn a Badge it does not appear any place. I always use my GPS. I save the data on my device but it never appears in Garmin Connect on my phone. I've learned to get my phone right next to the Vivosaport before I save the data and that seems to help. If I were to walk 3 miles in the morning, save data and then walk in the afternoon I may not see either activity on my phone.

On to a different subject BADGES AND POINTS. Garmin does not reward us with anything regardless of how many points we have or Badges. Its ridiculous that they refuse to increase the Badges, points and Challenges. Apparently their software must be obsolete and cannot accommodate the increase? I'm at level 5 and have 450 points. What harm does it do to increase the Badges/Points? They could make them unlimited. It gives people motivation and encouragement. I hope that explains what I was attempting to say above. I dont get into the Forum often. My Best Friend just found out she has Parkiinsons disease. Im spending as much tiime with her as possible. June 14 I will be the "one armed bandit" Havng Physical Therapy for both should and my back. Not sure how that's going to work out. I promise I will be more attentive to the Forums. I rarely use my computer but its much easier to read and write on a larger space.

  • If the data doesn't appear in your phone it could be that your are syncing to a different account. It is very common that users by mistake create a new account. But you also say that is seems to help if you get the phone and watch really close to each other. Does the sync works at least sometimes? If yes, then you got the correct account set up. Then it is some issue with the phone or watch.

Even if you are at level 5 you can still take all badges and challenges and get points for them. I got 749 points and have been level 5 for a very long time. I don't bother about the levels. The points is what is important now...or the number of badges. My goal is to take as many badges as possible.
