Training Status Inconsistenties

Hello,

I'm using a Fenix 3 for everything but cycling which I use an Edge 530.

It seems like activities done on the Fenix don't count towards training status levels. "Physio Trueup" is enabled.  I assume it's because older watches stop getting much support/updates (unfortunately it seems Garmin treats its devices as fairly disposable even though watches like the Fenix 3 are robust and last well and have hardware to support many of the features it will never get). Any settings buried that I'm missing?

Also, my last month of activity hasn't applied to my loads.  Basically my "7 day training load" only shows 7 data points between 1/30/2020 - 2/26/2020 even though I've run or cycled everyday of February.  As of this morning there were no datapoints for February but after pairings the Edge to a new phone those 7 points were added. Is there a way I can force devices to resync without messing my account up? The activities show up on GC, they just don't seem to contribute to any of the "newer" calculations that became available after I got the Edge 530.

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks

  • The list of devices supporting the calculation of Training Status by Firstbeat is listed here: https://www.firstbeat.com/en/consumer-feature/training-status/ (click Show all at the bottom of the page). Fenix 3 is not among them.

It not only means Garmin would have to develop new firmware for the old models, if they wanted to retrofit them with the technology, but it also means they would have to pay additional license fees to Firstbeat. Even if you perhaps have no personal experience in software development, and do not realize the cost and time associated with the development, testing, deployement, changes in the documentation and their translations, modification of websites (in dozens of languages again), re-training of support teams worldwide, etc., you'll certainly understand that the cost for the additional license fees alone would make no sense economically. If you own a 5 years old car, you also do not expect that the manufacturer would send you a new hybrid engine free of charge, just to look nice.
