Calorie pedometer

Good morning and sorry for the inconvenience.

I was wondering if it was possible to add the app by adding the calories burned only by the actual steps to the pedometer.

  • If you mean pedometer like for example Garmin Vívokí, then yes, the steps recorded by Vívokí indeed do add Calories to your Garmin Connect. Third party pedometers are not supported.

No that's not it, I don't want to use other apps. Just edit the garmin connect app so that you only see the calories of the steps and not the whole day.

  • Steps are recorded the whole day, hence the Calories are for the whole day too. You cannot separate them from other activities, because steps are recorded also during activities.

Ok thanks anyway, as usual third party apps do it but unfortunately in the app itself it is not possible to do it. Thanks anyway.

  • Nothing to thank for. I just wonder what it is good for, the abstraction of step-only Calories from the rest. What's important, is the total amount of Calories burned. Since Garmin uses the HRM to calculate the energy consumption, at an exercise it is impossible to tell what part of the increased HR is caused by the muscels involved in the step alone, and what part by muscles in other body parts. I guess that the other 3rd party apps just use a simple equation 1 step = X Calories, which is of course nonsense, and there is no meaningfullness of such value - apart from being a nice number, it is completely useless, and it does not correspond to the reality at all.
