Edits in workouts aren't synced to the watch

After editing a workout that was previously downloaded to my Fenix 6 Pro the modified workout is not synced. I tried repeatedly "send to device" and got the message that the workout will be available after syncing, and then manually forced a sync. The workout on my watch doesn't change. The only way to get the new workout setting to the watch is to delete the 'old' workout from the watch, using the button interface. This can be especially annoying after a renaming a workout, if you aren't sure which is the workout you have to delete, since the names don't match anymore.

While it is possible to work around most of the problem by deleting the 'old' workout it's not how I would expect this to work. I'm a technically inclined user, I imagine this must be utterly confusing for others.

  • I just tested it - I edited the name of an existing workout and sent it again to the watch. Although indeed nothing changed when I looked into the folder //GAMIN/Workouts, and even reloading the folder did not reveal any changes, it was suffcient to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable, and the edited workout appeared with the correctly modified file name. So the sending does work, just for some reason changes to the file system on the watch are visible only after reconnecting the device.

  • In my case no cable is involved, I use the Android Connect app.

I also found that it doesn't fail consistently. Today I tried twice a name change, in both cases the change was visible on the watch after syncing Thinking

  • I am having the same problem and can't send the edited workouts to my Instinct 2. Any luck or fixes?

  • Same challenge for me.  Updates to workouts won't show on Forerunner 945 after syncing.  Have attempted sync with Garmin Connect on the phone, Garmin Express with the computer, plugged in to the computer and over wi-fi.  Duplicated workouts do show up.

  • On my end, I apparently had too many workouts synced. After I deleted a few (so the total count of workouts was under 25) The updates showed.

  • Glad you got your issue resolved.  I only have 4 workouts on mine right now.
