Calories recorded during activity are much higher than active calories recorded in watch and app.

Hi, everytime I record an activity, eg. Cardio the active calories between the activity and my Fenix 5s are completely different. Eg, I just did a cardio activity and burnt 175 calories, but my watch and 'my day' only say I've burnt 98 so far today. How can I fix this? It's been happening for at least the last week.

Thanks in advance

  • The total Calories burned during an activity are equal to BMR for the time of the activity + active Calories, so it sounds to be perfectly OK.

let me understand: the 175 activity calories that Stacey mentioned are split between a BMR portion and an activity calorie portion automatically?

    If so, really counterintuitive indeed!!

  • I don't know whether it is counterintuitive, but if you think about it a moment, it is logical, that during a specific time, you burn not only the "active" calories, but that your body continues having its own basal metabolic needs (BMR), and hence that the total consumption over given time must be BMR*time + active calories.

Yes, it is reasonable. One does not think this way immediately, howeverRelieved. Thanks for your clarification
