Approach S60 showing every phone notification

I have a Garmin Approach S60 connected to Samsung Galaxy S9+ on Android 9. Android went through an update recently through T-Mobile for security-related issues.

Garmin Connect app also went through some updates. S60 has not had an update for a while and still at v7.10.

Since December 2019, every single notification from my phone now comes through on the watch. It doesn't matter what options I toggle on and off from phone and/or watch.

For example, google local traffic updates are silent on my phone, but since it's on my notification pane, it forwards to my watch as a message notification (SMS icon)

I've already reset my watch, uninstall/reinstall the mobile app, changed around settings. Garmin reps haven't been very helpful other than asking me to do things I've already done. Does anyone else observe a similar situation? The watch works...just annoying and it didn't do this before.

Yes, it's now Oct 2022 and this is still happening to my S60 that was recently purchased. I cannot turn off phone notifications. They don't show up on my phone but show up only on the watch. EVERYTHING with Notifications is turned OFF!

Remove the watch from Garmin Connect » Devices and then add it back. If you use another Garmin app, such as Garmin Golf, do the same there, and check whether there is an option for sending notifications too.
