Show steps taken during a walk activity, within the walk activity.

Steps taken during a walk activity should be shown within the walk activity. There have been similar questions posted but it seems that the people answering aren't really getting the idea. We see HR, time, pace....it seems like quite an oversight that we can't see the steps taken within that activity. We don't want to go to the steps section, they should just be within the walk activity, since steps are what you do when you walk. Please, pretty please, add this feature request. Thanks!

My watch doesn’t log any steps even though it is logging my runs. I show zero steps.

Your post is off-topic here, since it is entirely different problem than in the opening post, but here you go:

There are basically four following possibilities. The most common and the most likely reason in most cases is the #3, despite that people are always mistakenly persuaded they never created multiple accounts.

    1. Your Privacy Settings do not allow sending data to the Garmin Account (verify the option Storage & Processing), or the device is not set as the Preferred Activity Tracker (check out the Device Settings on the Garmn Connect Mobile app » Activity Tracking » Preferred Activity Tracker)

    2. The BT synchronisation on the phone app does not work (the white circle around the watch symbol never closes) - in that case follow the tips in the Sync / Connection Troubleshooting Guide. Alternatively, you can sync the data with the GC account over the USB cable and Garmin Express on a compuiter, or manually by importing files from the device folder //GARMIN/ACTIVTY/ to the Import Data page of GC Web (in case of errors during the import, see the hint #3)

    3. When the synchronisation works (the white sync circle closes and turns green), but not all the data is appearing in your account, then it very probably means that your device is associated with multiple accounts, and a part of the data lands in the other account. It frequently happens for example when you reinstall the application, and inadvertently sign up a new account instead of signing into the original one. Follow the instructions from the support document Data is Missing from My Garmin Account After Syncing to resolve the issue.

    4. The storage (or a FIT file storing the Activity details or HR data and the steps data) is dammaged or full. Try backing up and deleting old files from the folder //GARMIN/Activity and //GARMIN/Monitor. Look up the last unsynced activities from the folder //GARMIN/Activity, and try importing them manually on the Import Data page of GC Web. If you get errors when trying to import them, try fixing the broken files by passing them through the Section Remover of FIT File Tools (without removing anything), and then importing again the repaired file(s).

Le nombre de pas n'est pas indiqué

  • My watch doesn’t log any steps even though it is logging my runs. I show zero steps.

And if it is the watch that does not show any steps during the Run Activity, then there could be two other reasons:

    1. You have mistakenly chosen the Cycling or Swimming Activity profile, when starting your run. Steps are not counted during cycling or swimming (at least not on recent Garmin devices)

    2. Your arm with the watch did not move during the run - that can happen to people running on the treadmill while holding the handlebars, or runing outside while pushing a baby pram.
  • If you want the watch to display steps then you need to edit the data screens to add that parameter.

How that is done depends on the watch. You need to post in the forum for that watch.

  • I think it is obvious how to add step data field and show number of steps during the activity.

The main issue here is that number of steps is not visible within the activity page in Garmin connect. Neither in Android nor in Web. I agree with the original poster. Number of steps during a walk activity is a fundamental piece of information. It should be stored and shown on the summary page of walk activity.

  • Add the "Steps to FIT" data field to the activity from the CIQ app store and it will appear in the activity on Connect.

  • Very good, pshare. Thanks!

Agree. The responders are not getting it.

Your question (the second post in this thread) did not seem to referer to the same topic as the opeining post, hence the answers addressing your problem instead. You wrote:

If the watch (or did you mean the app in fact?) shows zero steps, then it must be a different problem than if you were missing the Steps field at an activity altogether. Sorry for the irelevant answer, but it was caused by the not quite well formulated post.
