Hello,
I have a Vivoactive 3 Music. Even though I don't always wear the device when going to bed, the Connect app shows sleep tracking data. Why is that? Shouldn't there be data only when wearing the device?
Thanks

It would be nice if they added an option to turn ON or OFF that feature, because I don't want to track my sleep while not wearing the watch. But if that's something they added because of the feedback then I'm ok with it, the only thing I wanted to know is that a bug or added feature?
When I wear the watch then the mesuring is good. But when I don't wear it then I get every day exactly 10h 34min of sleep. This is not correct because when I wear it during the night my weekly average sleep is below 8 hours.
For me it is also about 10,5 hours every night, it varies a little. Maybe when I put it down on the shelf in the evenings it interprets the lack of movement as sleep, it has to be a bug.
Why would it recognize as sleep when no heart rate is detected...
I was little annoyed with that so I tried to remove watch from my wrist at different times at night before sleeping, and as you noted it varies a little. But before that I haven't worn the watch for a few weeks and when I scrolled through history every day was 10h 34min of deey sleep(only). That's why I also think it could be a bug, because in the Garmin Connect I can scroll to a day when this bug was not present and my watch didn't record anything through the evening when not worn. Also you can read this "No sleep data. To receive a sleep level data, wear your Garmin device while sleeping."
Exactly
Im not sure how anyone could be happy with an activity tracking device that's clearly making up sleep data. Either report facts or if you don't have the data don't report it.
If I don't weigh myself I wouldn't' expect Garmin just to make up my weight
Sort it out Garmin
Yeah I agree. If that's a new feature rather than a bug, then it would be nice if they said something about it and gave us the option to turn it off. I hope Garmin will see this topic and address the issue soon.
I personally find this watch to be very uncomfortable to sleep with or honestly any watch for that matter. I went over my data since what I will call a feature began and found that each days times were from when I set the watch down for the night and when I picked it up in the morning. Being a person who pretty much falls right to sleep and not concerned with the ups and downs it suits me just fine and I for one hope it stays exactly the way it is. I fully understand that others may be looking for more detailed data just I'm putting it out there that what some may see as a fault other may find to be a benefit.
