Garmin connect / zwift / 735xt

Hi, I am using zwift for a while and paired it with Garmin Connect. Which works fine.  Now I got a Garmin 735xt and use it for Outdoor running.

My question is: what happens if I use the Garmin watch during my zwift Session?

does it record both data, the data from my watch and the data which I get from Zwift? Do I have the data set double in my Garmin Connect?

I could simply try it out but don't want to mess up my data in Garmin connect. So maybe you guys have experience already with this topic?

Thx

  • You will get double activities.

I don't get double activities if I don't start an indoor activity on the watch.

  • You asked what would happen if you used your garmin watch on a zwift activity. If you don't start an activity on the watch, then how else do you use it? Just wear it? In that case I'm not sure I understand what you're asking.

  • Yes, you will get two activities showing up in Garmin Connect if you record an activity on the watch.

You could delete each Zwift activity from GC, but this gets tedious.

My suggestion would be to disconnect the linkage between Garmin Connect and Zwift. You can still Zwift to your heart's content, but Garmin Connect will hold the data from both indoor rides and outdoor runs without duplicates, which should help you keep an eye on your overall training load.
