Is there a way to delete or edit individual swimming intervals in any Garmin App? Many thanks!

I recently bought a Garmin Vivoactive 3 and it is a nice device.  While swimming indoors, sometimes there is a badly recorded interval.  No problem at all.  This can happen.  But how do I now delete the badly recorded interval from this training session?  Is this possible with any Garmin App or Website?  Do I need to switch to a different Garmin Device to make this possible?  I looked in the forums and this issue was raised before but most posts are 3 years or more old and might be out of date.  Any support or knowledgeable person maybe know something?  Many thanks!

  • Is this possible with any Garmin App or Website?

    No.

Do I need to switch to a different Garmin Device to make this possible?

    This won't make any difference.

There's this http://www.swimmingwatchtools.com/ site, which is a nice and easy tool for editing pool swim activities.

  • Thanks for clarification and quick response.  I was fearing this answer.  But at least it is a possibility to follow that route.

  • OK.  I have looked more into the matter.  The website  http://www.swimmingwatchtools.com/ requires you to export the data (in the form of a FIT file).  I tried to follow their instructions in their user manual here:  http://www.swimmingwatchtools.com/help  (the very first paragraph).  However, in my Garmin Connect (German version and I could not manage to change the language so far) the functionality to "Export Original" seems not to exist.  I can mark it a favorite, add comments and the like, but no export feature.  What am I doing wrong?  I checked the english manual of the Garmin Vivoactive 3  (  https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/vivoactive3/EN-US/GUID-1AF84C62-834C-4DEC-A756-B06099B1D586-homepage.html  ) and it seems not to even know the notion of "export", at least not in the search-manual-feature.  So I tried to download all user data as required by the GDPR (the general data protection rule) and received a download, even rather quickly, nice!  However even in the provided ZIP file no trace of any FIT file anywhere.  I'm kind of stuck.  Could be you so kind as to let me know how to best obtain the FIT file so I can follow the solution you provided?  Many thanks for your time again and all the best!

  • The export funcionality in Garmin Connect changed several times of the years so it's possible that the guide on swimwatchtools is out of date. I just checked and here's what you have to do:

    1. On the activities list find the swim activity you want to fix.

    2. Click it. The activity will open.

    3. In the upper right corner find the tiny cog icon. Click it. A menu will pop up.

    4. In that menu you'll find "Export original".

One more note: This applies to the web version of Garmin Connect. I don't know if it can be done in the Garmin Connect mobile app.

  • I found the file now and managed to export!  Great!

  • Ok, this has actually worked in order to merge the "two" lanes into one in the last inverval of yesterday's swimming class.  It did update the overall pace as well.  Re-upload into the Garmin Connect has worked too (once I deleted the original data there first, as has been pointed out somewhere else).  The title of the activity, that I had set manualy before got lost in the process, but that is easy to re-assign.  And the App on the mobile updated almost immediately as well.  Excellent.  Your solution actually works.  I wouldn't exactly call it "convenient", but it is possible to edit swim data to some extent using that web tool.
