Garmin Edge 510 and Xiamoi Mi 9T Pro

Recently got myself one of these phones and can't get my Edge 510 to sync with it. 

I also have a Forerunner 920 XT and it pairs flawlessly. 

I have tried unpairing and re-pairing as well as uninstalling the Garmin Connect app all together. The watch connects via Bluetooth every time, but the Edge 510 fails to sync. 

With my last Android phone as soon as I turned on the Bluetooth (phone paired) the Edge 510 would flash up immediately "Phone Connected". Now I don't get that (bluetooth enabled on phone and Garmin)

Any ideas?

    Finally!

    I'll answer my own question in case someone else experiences the same. 

    I had tried disabling bluetooth on phone and device and cycling the power off both but that didn't work. I noticed that while I was unpairing the 510 on my phone, it was still present in Garmin Connect.

    1. Therefore open the app,
    2. click devices;
    3. Forget Device (510)...at this point it should still be paired with the phone but not the app.
    4. Click "Add Device" find yours and allow it to connect...
    5. Boom!
