Moving time half of elapsed time

I did a ride today that took 1.09.30.  It is my commute to work so whilst there were a few stops that would accunt for maybe 5 minutes at most.  My moving time is shown as 26.29 minutes.  Auto pause is off and the distance is correct.  Any idea what I am doing wrong.  I am using a Garmin 735XT

  • Can you post a link to the activity?

    Here you go

Check out my cycling activity on Garmin Connect. #beatyesterday

  • There's something terribly wrong with the whole activity. If you look at the speed graph, one can see multiple massive gaps in speed data. The altitude graph doesn't look good either, as distinct "steps" can be seen. And the GPS track on the map is suspicious too, because the path shows many straight sections, sometimes cutting corners. On the other hand, the HR graph looks fairly normal. This leads me to believe that for some reason the watch had numerous failures of GPS data. Now some additional questions:

Are you sure you don't have UltraTrac enabled?

Do you use a speed sensor?

Do other activities show similar symptoms or was this the first time?

Thanks for the quick reply.  I have checked my settings and yes UltraTrac was enabled.  I have moved to GPS and will check on my ride home whwether this corrects it.  Thansk again

  • UltraTrac was enabled.

That would explain it. UltraTrac works by enabling GPS for short periods of time only to save battery power. I can imagine that this could produce the kind of result we're seeing in this ride.
