My Garmin 245 doesn't connect to Garmin Connect 4.24.1 anymore!

Hi

No matter what I do my phone does not connect to my Garmin 245 watch. I have the latest firmware on the watch.

I have the same issue.  Fenix 6 (4.20 - 81de5e72) refuses to connect to the latest version of garmin connect.  It finds the device, but says there is an error when connecting.

Just looping back here to share my fix, hopefully it will help someone.  So I tried resetting the phone and the watch, reinstalling the garmin connect app, removing the fenix 6 from the device list in the garmin connect app and it just wouldn't connect again.

But then I discovered that the watch was still listed as a connection in the phone bluetooth list.  Once I deleted that connection from bluetooth, it paired again.

  • I bought my vivoactive 3 in August and always had some connection issues with my Huawei P20 lite. I always turn off both VA3 and phone over night, and reconnecting the devices in the morning has been a pain.

Usually turning off Bluetooth on the phone, waiting a few seconds, turning on Bluetooth helped.

However, since Garmin Connect 4.24.1 released this week, it is almost impossible to make the devices connect.

    Garmin, please fix this ASAP!

  • I don't know if this is applicable to your situation, but make sure your phone is on line either by WiFi or Data.

I had the same problem and Garmin Support told me that one must (now) be connected to their server (WiFi or Data) to connect the tracker to the mobile app on the phone or tablet. (My tracker does this via bluetooth.)

I used to connect the two without WiFi or Data so I could look at the progress of my activity on the phone and control the phone music on the tracker. But, it appears they took this away. When i wanted to sync, I'd connect to WiFi.

I'll bet a lot of people will see their data minutes get used up quickly.

Hope This Helps & Be Sure To Enjoy Today!

  • In another post somebody suggested that active location/GPS on the phone is required for the Garmin watch connecting to Garmin Connect on the phone.

I have tried this with my vivoactive 3 and my Huawei P20 lite with location turned on and it reallly works!

  • After I had troubles all the time with my Forerunner 235 I switched to the 645 music and all was good until 4.24.1 arrived. And now it's broken again. None of the suggestions works, switch on/off multiple times, factory reset, re-install connect, made sure I had GPS signal (seriously though?).... You would think that a brand like Garmin would take a little more care when publishing a software update, especially maybe testing it for problems that they know they had for ages. After some more wasted hours I think it is time to switch to another vendor. I am sorry as I grew very fond of my 645 :-(
