Why use "my fitness pal"?

Why are you partnering with my fitness pal? My wife bought a galaxy active watch because she has a Samsung phone obviously. Seems much easier to be able to log everything into one app (I E samsung health). Seems like a simple software update should allow us to enter food info directly into Garmin connect? This is a little dissapointing. Drop the need for my fitness pal, and get to coding!

  • MFP has a vast database of foods. It does one thing and only one thing: calorie-in, calorie-out. Garmin's focus is on fitness performance. Neither wants to be the other.

This App is limited to be opened only to two 3PP apps, which need purchases....seems to be partners.

It doesn't even open to Google fit

Then they need to make it work. I still see no data on calorie in calorie out page. Says unable to connect with my fitness pal. I'm okay with ising it, but it needs to work

Food and excersise go hand in hand. It would be a simple update to add food. All you need is a scanner to enter endless foods. Nothing else in Garmin connect would need to change. I'm just pointing out where Garmin is missing the mark. Simple to fix, and would put them in the running with all the other health apps available. Having to use 2 seperate apps could be the difference between someone buying a Garmin device, and a Samsung, LG, or Apple.

I had fitbit Before and they have a datebase but not over Swedish food, but myfitnespal have a Swedish food base thats why I use it. In  myfitnesplal I can se the macronutrients, do I eat enough fat, carbs protein etc, very useful. I also use myfitnespal to log my waist, blood pressure, caliper Readings (bodyfat), biceps, calfs etc. Myfitnespal are very important to me, Iam building my body with food and training. I can not go after hunger, I need 3200-4000 calories a day and I am 50 years old, 72kg 175cm tall 14% bodyfat. My blood pressure is about 109/65.

But it would be nice if garmin would provide, but it would take them forever to fix a food data base over al countries

  • Linking MFP and Garmin can be a bear but it eventually works. Try it from both a desktop computer and smartphone, making sure ad-blockers are OFF.
