Notifications suddenly stopped working

I have been using Garmin VivoActive HR for a year now, paired with my Oneplus 5.  The phone runs on Android 9 and OxygenOS 9.0.8

For about a month now, the phone notifications have stopped being displayed on my watch. After l uninstall and reinstall the Garmin Connect app, the notifications are restored, but work for about one day only. 
Please suggest any help.

    Hey,
    It's possible your phone kills the GCM, therefore that can't push the notifications to your watch. Check this website to exclude GCM from battery optimisation: dontkillmyapp.com

    Furthermore, take a look in System Settings - Battery, there you can also exclude apps to keep them running in the background.

    This is the answer! I'm your app settings find the Garmin app and make sure it is allowed background activity and has no battery optimization turned on. This fixed the problem for me on vivoactive 4
