My vivoactive 3 music is not connecting and getting notifications unless I have the Garmin app open. This was not happening before and how do I fix it?

My notifications are not coming through my vivoactive 3 music like they used to. Now I have to have the app open and then it's constantly connecting and disconnecting. I have had my watch for almost 2 years.. I hope that for the price of this watch it's meant to last a lot longer.... Please help 

  • Part of the Garmin app should be running in the background at all times so that the app would not have to be open. in my version of Android, it's under Battery / Battery optimization. Connect should NOT be optimized.
