Garmin Connect won't work

The August 29th update just wouldn't let my Fenix 5x plus connect to the Garmin connect app on my Pixel 3. The recent update did not fix it either so I am stuck with Garmin Express on my laptop. This is highly inconvenient.

May be, you can stop the battery optimisation for the connect appli in the android settings.

Pixel 2 XL, Android 10/Q, Vivoactive 3. Same issue.

Garmin Connect app crashes as soon as the vivoactive 3 connects to it and produces these crash logs:

The app does not crash or something, it just does not connect to the watch, when I remove the device and try to add it back it doesn't pair with the watch either

I had similar issue. Removing VA3 from the app and setting it up again stopped the crashes. However doing that caused me to lose the Garmin Pay option in the app.
