Garmin Connect will not run on my Samsung Galaxy S7 phone running Android 8.

Garmin Connect will not run on my Samsung Galaxy S7 phone running Android 8. The app opens, then immediately I get a pop up saying Connect has stopped.  If I select retry, I get another pop up saying Connect keeps stopping.  I contacted Garmin support and they do not have any solution, although they said they logged this as a possible software problem.  In the meantime, I am unable to use many of the features of my brand new Forerunner 45S.  Solution???

I have the same problem with my wife's Galaxy s7.I get the exact same notification. I'm trying to set up my Wife's Vivosmart HR+ activity watch. I too have contacted Garmin and was on the with them for 45 min and. They tried about everything possible on the Galaxy S7 but no solution was found. They said they created a case for their engineers to look at and would email me back. That was Monday the 23rd and I haven't heard any thing back yet. I think I will give it another week and if the problem is not solved I will return the Vivosmart HR+ watch for a refund. It does not do any good If it can't be paired with the phone.

  • I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one.  I too plan to give it a few days, but not sure the vendor will accept a return if Garmin doesn't come through.

I just re- installed Garmin connect mobile app on my Galaxy s7 and the app works now.  In the play store there are 2 Garmin connect apps. The first one is Garmin connect and the second one is Garmin connect mobile app a couple day ago neither of them worked on my s7, now the Garmin connect mobile app works and I don't get the " connect has stopped " notice.

  • Thanks for the tip.  I uninstalled the app and installed the new app, which BTW has a new version number, and Connect is now working on my S7.
