Trimming an activity appears to be broken

So today I went out for an 11 and a half mile bike ride.  Unfortunately, I didn't get going when planned and forgot to relube my heart rate strap. The thing slipped around and for the first 5 minutes yielded a stupid reading of 191.  The app thinks I'm exhausted and gives me a similar dip in performance condition. After 5 minutes it settles in and yields a nice steady reading of 145 to 155 which is what I'd expect and a likewise good performance condition.

Enter the new trim option.  Great way to fix this right?  Wrong!!!  I trimmed off the first 5 minutes and the app trimmed my miles and power but instead of trimming the erroneous performance graph it just compressed it yielding the same wrong crappy training result.

Now I've got the same problem of incorrect performance condition coupled with losing miles and exercise time!

What the heck, Garmin!  Did anyone test this trim feature?

Plus, there doesn't seem to be a way to get the original workout back!

I'm so frustrated.

  • Following up.  Apparently, the low performance condition followed the big heart rate mess up and I was able had to trim off more time (10 minutes.). That left a very normal looking performance condition graph but yielded no changes to the calculated VO2max or "unproductive" rating so I gave up.  I was able to restore it.  Not sure why I didn't see that option when looking for it earlier.
