Intensity minutes without intensity

Normally I miss all intensity minutes for my cycle workouts. Today I wake up after 10h of sleep, had a coffee and reading news and earned 22 minutes! Great feature on Garmin Connect and my Instinct. :-)

  • Exactly this! Sometimes  I earn intensity minutes with my Instinct by doing nothing. Yesterday I only had a short swim and nothing else all day and in the evening gained a 300 intensity minutes badge! Garmin should really fix those software bugs. My rest heart rate is fairly normal at 60-65bpm

Please post the heart rate graph from the concerned day

  • I get your point, had some pretty high heart rate yesterday in the afternoon doing household stuff, but i was not even walking..

  • had some pretty high heart rate yesterday

Yes, that's the reason. Intensity minutes are based on the HR. And the Resting HR, resp. the ratio HR/RHR is also important, so looking at the exact value of RHR for given day, may give you even beter idea, why the IM were so high that day.

If you think your watch misreads your HR, have a look at the document The Heart Rate Sensor on My Watch Is Not Accurate for some tips, or use a HRM chest belt for a day or two to verify how muh the wrist HRM differs from the chest belt. If the chest belt shows similarly high values, you may consider cutting on coffee and perhaps consulting a physician.
