Garmin connect for android stops sending notification until I stop it or clean the cache of the app

Hello guys.

I've just bought a Garmin Vivoactive 3 and I'm having a hard time getting the notifications on my phone. It works for a while, but then it simply stops. Syncing still works (the data is still copied from the watch to the phone) and I'm able to find the watch from the phone and vice-versa, but I wont' get any notifications until I clear the cache of the Garmin Connect app on the phone (System->Apps->Garmin Connect->Storage->Clear Cache) or reinstall the app. Sometimes, stopping the app (System->Apps->Garmin Connect->Force Stop) will do the trick too.

I've already checked and double checked the settings (https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=jusyWiwXtF4512Rb8jnLOA) and everything seems to be correctly configured (if that wasn't the case, then I'd probably wouldn't be able to receive any notifications, right?).

I've also remove the Garmin's apps from the battery optimization list, so that it won't get killed from time to time...

I'm using a OnePlus 3T which is running Android 9 (oxygen os 9.05, builf a3003_28_190731). 

I'm using  (what I think is) the latest version of the Garmin Connect app (4.22.1).

Can someone help?
