Trouble connecting MyFitnessPal..

When I press "link accounts" I always get the same response... "

Invalid API request (unhandled server error)"

I already have the MyFitnessPal app downloaded and a premium subscription.

Can anyone help?

Br Oskar
  • I managed to sovle this by loggin in to both Garmin Connect and MyFitnessPal on my desktop pc and making the connection from there. After this, the apps were syncing as well. Not really a solution, but it might be a good workaround for some.

Did you do any kind of syncing? Or just merely log into both accounts, and then mysteriously the apps communicated on your phone? I logged in on my PC, but I still have no data on calorie in/out page on Garmin connect?

  • I think I restarted the app after connecting them (not just logging in) on the PC, but after that all the data was there.

What i had to do was log into my fitness pal account on my desktop, go to apps make sure no apps are installed, I had an older fitbit app still connected. Then I went to the garmin website, on the dashboard at the bottom of teh page , there is a pane that says "calories in and out" there is a link to mfp button there, after i did that I went back to my fitnesspal apps section and saw that Garmin Connect now says connected or linked wtf it says.

Well I'll be da** it worked. Ok here is the trick that I believe is what made it work and it wasn't completely explained in all the comments. First delete the garmin connect from your phone, then while logged into Garmin connect on your PC go to the calorie in/out tab. Click on how to sink. It will give you the option to download the garmin connect app to your phone from you PC via google play. It will have you sign in with your Google email and password associated with phone. Then once your device shows that garmin connect is there. Sign back in go to calorie in/out tab, go through steps to sync to My fitness pal. After that my food calories finally showed up!!! Hopefully this was detailed enough, and helpful.

  • Yes, thank you for explaining it further. For me there was no need to delete the Garmin Connect app first, as just following the same steps for connecting the services on the web as I would on the phone worked for me. But if that doesn't work, deleting first might just be the answer. Slight smile

Well, it was good while it lasted. Garmin and My Fitness Pal stayed connected for 2 days. Come on Garmin, if you can't get this fixed, just right some new damn code, and let us enter our calories directly into the Garmin Connect app. It shouldn't be that difficult! Give us a simple section to enter calories. Add a scanner if you want for products. Or hell, I don't even mind looking up the calories, and entering them myself. What I'm not going to enjoy, and will get pissed off very quickly is 2 apps that continue to be glitchy. Fix the problem!
