Version 4.22.1 Allows Tracking Hydration

I just noticed this morning when I was entering my weight in GCM that next to the "+ Weight" button was a "+ Hydration" button.

Tapping the "Hydration" button allows me add a "cup" at a time, or quick add 1, 2 or 3 cups.

There's a "Settings" option within that page that allows you to customize Units, Daily Goal and the three "quick entry" amounts.

There's indication it will "sync with your devices" - not sure which devices are supported (I have a FR645) or if there is a watch app but don't see any data transfer just yet to my device.

  • I have requested that Garmin makes this available for older watches as well (at least the FRx45 watches) and I suggest as many as possible does the sample.

  • OK, thanks - so seems the same for everyone. Would be nice if in future updates Garmin would use your personal specifics to set more individual goals. Example: 2800ml is probably too much for a slender women and possibly too low/ just about right for a very big guy.

Also, the added hydration recommendation seems fairly high to me. Went for a medium-intense bike 4h bike training today in cold conditions, and my total hydration recommendation has gone to over 5,5 litres for the day. I have been trying to achieve that just for fun - with the result that I am spending half of evening near the toilet. Way too much water intake...

evening? for me the whole night! Joy

  • it looks like it will come as an App from Connect IQ store in the near future (atm only for newer watches):

    Permissions

    This app requires access to:

    • Run in the background when it is not active (potentially affecting battery life)
    • Send/receive information to/from the Internet
    • Saved information such as courses, routes, waypoints, tracks or workouts
    • Allow services to push information to this app
    • Your Garmin ConnectTm fitness profile
  • It is already in the Connect IQ store, but with the compatibility limited to the newest watches.

Based on the features in the app I think it is a choice from their side, and not technical hindrances, that is the reason for it not being compatible with older watches.

Why does the  "quick entry" reset customization when you open Garmin Connect? I set one of the quick entires to 470ml, click save and it works. But when you close the app and open it again, 470ml goes back to the default 250ml

May not be as helpful, but I'm never in the app as much as I should be. I have the Vivoactive Music 3.

I have a Google Pixel 3, and I use Hydro Coach the app, which has a widget and is great! They have a free or pro version and you can add all kinds of drinks, not just water! If you're also not in the Garmin app as much but want to watch your water, you may dig this!

The app keeps resetting to 250ml (I set it to 300ml three times now but resets the following day).

Today, all set to 300ml. Go for a run and now defaults are in fl/oz!

    Mad

  • Does anyone know how to turn hydration off? I did it for two months and realized I'm getting plenty of hydration and now I just want it to go away.

  • Simply hide the Hydration pane by sliding it to the side
