Garmin Connect and Android 10 (Q)

I just upgraded my Pixel 2 to Android Q, which released to the public today. Garmin Connect mostly works, although syncing does not seem to. The sync progress meter gets approximately 1/2 of the way around from the green dot then just spins without any progress. It has been like this for the past hour. I can force-quit the app and come back in, and the sync progress will resume at 1/2 but continue spinning indefinitely.

Some data points:

  • This is after I completed a bike ride activity.
  • I am on build 4.22.1 of the Garmin Connect mobile app
  • I sync my activities to Strava
  • I have a Fenix 5x plus v8.40 that is shown as “connected” in the app

Hope that helps with the debugging. FWIW I believe Android 10 is only in wide release for Pixel users right now.

    Pixel3 and edge530 can't connect automatically.

But forerunner 45 can be pairing.

Initial setup is working. so I have to delete each other and to upload my activity!

I want to fix it asap.

pixel 2 running on android 10, forerunner 945, seeing the same issue, won't connect, and does not complete the setup steps. Really desperate for an update on this issue

  • I upgraded to 10 the other day. My Edge 520 just disconnects and reconnects over and over. I've tried re-pairing numerous times and it's the same old story. It'll show connected on my phone for a few seconds, then drop to previously connected devices for a few, then back to connected, etc. The Edge ever reports a successful connection.

I have a pixel 3 and Garmin forerunner 645. My phone won't sync to my Garmin since updating to Android 10. I've updated the app, disconnected the pairing and tried to repair from add device, setup always fails :(

I fixed the issue by factory resetting the watch.

  • I updated my Pixel2 to Android Q yesterday.  Same issue with 245m.  It no longer syncs nor can I get notifications on the watch.  I tried to uninstall Connect and reinstall, clear data, factory reset watch...everything and it still doesnt pair.  It gets discovered when I try to add it in Connect, but it never completes and says pairing failed.

  • I had the same issue after updating to Android Q. After tons of troubleshooting turns out I just needed to remove the 245 in the list of known Bluetooth devices on the phone then readd it in the connect app.

    Same issue

GC logged out and just won't log in anymore. It actually worked fine on Android 10 for a couple of days, but then stopped working last night.

Same exact issue as mine.  Either Garmin needs to update, or Google.  Something tells me this is in Google's hands since several of my bluetooth apps are now failing.

I've tried that several times.  After removing, the Pixel 2 can find it again, and even add it back to the list.  However, Garmin Connect fails to find/connect during setup.  It just fails over and over again.  Glad it worked for you though!
