clearing Incident Detection notification

I've had several instances where my Edge 530 detected an incident (mostly false alarms) when my phone was not in range of a network. The Connect App sends a notification to my phone but obviously cannot text or email my contacts. I can't seem to clear the notification without turning notifications off for the app and it seems to come back again the next time I turn the Edge back on. For now, I've disabled Incident Detection. Anyone else run into this, or know a better way to deal with it?

    Hi,

    I have the same issue

Incident detected is always shown in the android notifications and cannot be removed. I now have incident detection deactivated via the mobile app but the notification remains.

  • This is the reason why I have incident detection disabled. It is unreliable anyway - only false alarms due intense breaking on intersections

I'm having this issue right now using a garmin 830. Has this been sorted out?

My edge 530 sent out an incident alert to my emergency contacts because I couldn't figure out how to cancel the alert before the countdown. I wold press 'yes' then top right button, but nothing. Same for bottom right button.  It sent out the alert.  What the hell button was I supposed to push for 'yes' (cancel the alert)???

  • same problem on 1030 here in April 2022.  would be nice if there was a fix.

  • Garmin Support helped me out.  I went into the Android phone settings and turned notifications off for Garmin Connect.  Then I backed out of Settings and the notification balloon was gone.  Went back in and turned notifications back on and it didn't come back.  Easy fix - takes 5 seconds.

  • That's a short term fix, not a solution to a bug Disappointed

This notification needs to go away when you cancel it from the phone or the Garmin device.

  • THank you so much. Disadvantages of having no service and false positives. Personally wish they would make the detection a bit less sensitive. Too many time a quick stop throws a false alarm.

  • Wow 4 years later and this obvious and repeatable awful bug is STILL not fixed. It's unbelievable. I work in IT, do they not have a QA section?
