7-Day training load always shows no data

I recently got a Garmin Edge 530 which supports all the new training features.  I've had it for over a month now but I have yet to see any data in Garmin Connect for the 7-Day Training Load.  I get a number, but when I tap the field, the next page always show "No data available"

Also, I am unclear what to expect from TrueUp.  I have a FR920XT that I use for running and swimming, and I have TrueUp enabled on all the devices where this is an option.  Steps from the 920 goes to my vivo, and I see the 920 activites on the Edge, but I am not sure that they "count" towards training status.  And I can't verify because I get no data on the 7-Day page.

All the activities do show up in the Training Effect page.

Is there a concise document somewhere that explains all the Performance metrics, how it inter-relates and guidance on how to use it?
