Why is the Garmin app reducing my step count by hundreds of steps after the day ends?

With regularity I will have one step count on my Vivosport that is uploaded to the app before midnight. The device and app will agree. Then sometime after midnight the app will show hundreds of fewer steps for the previous day than the device showed (and still shows). Why? I'm losing points in my company's healthy rewards program because of this.

  • It sounds like you have a time issue - perhaps a wrong timezone. It could be adding the missing steps to the following day. That can happen if you set your time manually somewhere rather than automatically by GPS or your phone. I would check my time settings in Web connect for your profile and for your device. Then check your phone; and then your device itself.

  • I have been having same issue. I found that my website profile had a different time zone than my phone. Since I changed the website time zone to match the phone the app seems to be updating steps correctly.
