Steps in My Day different from Steps on Calendar

I'm not sure when this started as I only recently started checking the calendar tab on the app, but when I sync my watch the number of steps that appear on the My Day tab (which is the number of steps that my watch shows on its display) is always higher than the number that appears when I click on the Calendar tab.  The number that it differs by ranges from 200 on some days to over 3,000 on others. It is very frustrating when I know I have reached my step goal for the day only to have it not show up that way on the calendar, which is supposedly where the step day streak comes from.  Then I am left trying to make up thousands of steps before I go to bed at night to try to reach my goal even though I already did!  It also means that my steps aren't counting correctly for challenges.

I tried restarting my device a few times, but that just resulted in the watch syncing with the number of steps that were on the Calendar Tab and then having to try to reach my step goal again. It just seems like there is something wrong in the app because you would think the number of steps would be the same in both places.

Has anyone else had an issue like this?

I just realized mine is doing this, too. Did you ever get an answer or resolution to this?

  • Could you post screenshots from both the GC Mobile and GC Web, clearly demonstraing the problem? My step numbers are always identical on both sides, so perhaps we do not look at the same place. I also do not quite understand what is meant by step numbers in the calendar, since on the Calendar page of the web application, there are just activities listed, not the daily steps, as far as I can see.

Actually I did! Two things happened around the same time as it was fixed so I'm not sure which to contribute it to. First I found out that my phone (Google Pixel 3) was not set to sync the time with the network time zone. I noticed that my phone was displaying a few minutes earlier than my husband's and we have the same phone. Around the same time there was also an update sent to my watch. My watch and app have been in sync ever since then.

Calendar is first option when I hit the menu bar on top left (from "my day" page). These photos were all taken at the same time around 8:30 this morning.

When I click on the blue "steps" icon it brings up the previous days number on the steps details page. (I had 14,140 on the 12th - and 5,907 on the 11th). So basically the daily details page is correct but the step details page is 1 day behind. It's not a time zone issue.

  • Works fine in my case, so it does not seem to be a systematical problem. Perhaps wrong time on the watch or the phone? Or perhaps you did not sync the data from the previous day before the noon of the next day? What about the other info shown on the Daily Details screens? Does it match the days correctly, or is all the info shifted a day?

At 9:15 it seems to sync. -- i synced before I took the previous photos but it evidently has a significant delay.  Everything else sync's fine.

    Thanks for your help!

  • No, but last sunday my watch (fenix 6 pro) stop syncing steps with the GC web :-( I have tried to restart the watch, telephone including  bluethoots but this is not solved. Has worked fine since end of november 2019. Garmin Pay is also an issue. Never worked on my phone, Samsung android, but it works on my wifes ipone, on her GC account???

Garmin Norway informed, and they are working on it.
