Update Bluetooth Connection in Connect Mobile for Android

Starting with the 3.11 release of Garmin Connect Mobile for Android, we have introduced an option to update the Bluetooth connection from within the Connect Mobile application to use the native Android Bluetooth system pairing. For instructions on updating please see the link listed here.

Please feel free to leave feedback in this thread.
  • Lateat GCM released : 3.22.0.3

Looks like pairing has been fixed.
    without any todo

Alas, this DOESN'T fix my problem with reconnecting. The same as with 3.22.1 - when I for a second turn bluetooth off and onthe watch doesn't reconnecting. I even un-installed previous version and clean installed the recent 3.22.3 - does not help.

Hope this really annoying bug will be fixed ASAP.

    Cheers,

    Vitaly
  • I have one question. When i change my weigth in garmin connect mobile android, the next time i sync whith gps he change language? Im portuguese and gps change for english... Fix this problem in next update please... Thanks
  • Sent the following to Garmin support just now. I MAY have identified a workaround. It might even help the software developers.

Adding to the clamour about Bluetooth connection issues. Garmin Connect 3.22.1.2 on Android 5.1 phone (ZTE Model Z850). Forerunner 920XT version 9.40. Following recent updates, have been unable to connect phone and watch via Bluetooth except as a result of deleting the device and re-pairing them. This feature has worked for me for at least two years.

One interesting observation is that if I cycle power on both the phone and watch, and wait for reconnection, nothing happens. However, in this state, if I let the watch time out to power save mode (time display only), then unlock the watch, the bluetooth connection is made a short time later. If I cycle the power on the watch again (but not the phone), the phone reconnects shortly after power up (before timing out due to inactivity). I did this three times. Not sure how long this ability to connect will last though.
  • I have the same version of Connect and the same phone with a VA and have no bluetooth issues at all. I'm thinking then that your issue lies with the watch.
  • My V?voactive actually syncs fine with my phone, it connects automatically via Bluetooth, but it disconnects quickly thereafter. As a result, smart messages are not transmitted. This worked fine before the Android upgrade to Nougat. Other devices connect fine to the phone, so the issues really is Garmin. I've corresponded with Garmin, which does not reply (other than a generic answer).

I've got Edge 520 and new Meizu Pro 6 (Android 6.0, Flyme 6.1.0). I can't pair them either by system or Connect Mobile (latest version). When I try to pair my Garmin and phone determined as HID device like mouse or keyboard! Connect mobile didn't find Edge 520, way that described in FAQ http://support.garmin.com/faqSearch/en-US/faq/content/sNNUMnjsUn1k0TZwrJ43C9 didnt' suitable because phone and garmin not paired.

My Vivoactive 3 is working perfectly, however I cannot receive text messages.

    My setup:
    * vivoactive 3 with latest software
    * Pixel XL, Oreo on ProjectFi with Hangouts

I can sync perfectly with Connect, I can control podcasts with the watch and I can view my schedule, so I know the phone and watch are connected.

I have hangouts and connect authorizing everything, so permissions are probably not the issue. The only thing I don't want to adjust are lock screen notifications: they're off.

    Thanks for the help.
  • No real reply from Garmin. They should stop selling the Vivoactive as a "smart watch", as it isn't anymore after the Nougat Android update - it is now just a sports watch.

Round about 2 weeks I have the problem, that my Garmin Vivosmart HR and my Honor 6X don't sync and after some trys, both devices don't connect. I try everything, incl rollback the firmware to Android 6. Nothing helps. The Garmin support doesn't reply my call. It is so frustrating....
  • I was unable to pair Vivoactive with my Android 7.0 phone and GCM 4.0 up to today. I was getting the phone bluetooth pairing prompt repeatedly. Rolled back to 3.20.3 from https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/garmin/garmin-connect-mobile/ and I got prompted to enter the pairing code by the app and paired up fine. Bug is definitely with GCM 4.0.
