Custom Workouts Not Sending to Fenix 5s

Hi all,

I've been struggling to find a solution to this. I'm tech savvy and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'd really appreciate any pointers.

I have created a few custom workouts in Garmin connect website application. I can see they appear in the Connect Android App after initial creation, which is good.

I just can't get them to them on the Fenix 5s. I've tried syncing the specific workouts using the Connect App and using Garmin Express for Windows. Both confirm the sync has completed.

The workouts I have created are 'Strength Training' workouts (as it is written on the website app), so I am expecting them to appear under the 'Strength' profile on the watch. There are no workouts under that profile.

I've also tried adding the workout to the calendar to see if it'll be available that way. It is, but only by going to 'Strength' --> 'Training' --> 'Training Calendar'. It still doesn't appear in the 'My Workouts' part of the 'Strength' profile. This is a workaround, but not great as it means I always have to add the workout to the calendar and sync for a given day before I actually want to do the workout. I should just be able to select the workout from 'My Workouts' and get on with it.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction? This has been bugging me for a couple of weeks now!

Thanks

Custom Workouts seem to compatible with "Other" activity only. Add "Other" to the favourites app then you should be able to see your custom trainings there under Training -> My Workouts in the menu for this activity.

Same here for my running workouts. Very annoying. Scheduled ok and visible on garmin calendar but nothing on my fenix 5 plus.

That solves half my problem, but unfortunately I'm wanting to do a custom Swim work out with duration measured in time and not in distance.  Garmin does not give you the option for time in the duration settings under "Pool Swim".  So I made a custom work out instead.  My problem is that it will now not count my distance in yards while I'm swimming because it's in the "Other" category of work outs and not in "Pool Swim"....ugh....frustrating.

I was having the same problem with my F6X.  I talked to Garmin Tech Support and mostly got it figured out.

    1) The Fenix (and I assume all Garmin watches) have limited storage space for Custom Workouts.  I was told 20 - 25 depending on the complexity of the workouts.  I am using a TrainingPeaks triathlon plan with structured workouts for Run and Bike.  I had 23 Custom Workouts already loaded through TP.

    2) Adding a Custom Run Workout that I had created and that failed to sync, DID sync once I added it to my Training Calendar and scheduled it for Today.  It then showed up under Run as a Workout scheduled for today.

    3) I did the same for a Custom Strength Workout that previously would not sync.  Once I added it to my Training Calendar for Tomorrow, it transferred to F6 but showed up in the "Other" exercise, not in "Strength".

    4) So, check to see how many Custom Workouts you already have loaded on your device.

    5) Try scheduling the Custom Workouts for soon (today, tomorrow) and see if they sync.  I assume GCM will prioritize workouts based on the calendar and sync ones scheduled soonest.

I was going mad for not being able to upload the workouts... but scheduling them seems to solve it. Thank you!

Very strange that Garmin does not solve this by making them appear as they should but, well, your answer worked for me
