Sync issues

Seems that since around the time of the last update to the Android Connect app I have been experiencing problems with my Vivoactive HR syncing data. First I noticed the HR graph seemed to have dropouts. Now I don't see it show up at all. Sleep data also doesn't show up. I went to Connect on the web today and found that my step data, while it is in the app, isn't showing up on the website.
  • This definitely seems to be related to problems in the Android app. I am able to sync in Garmin Express and the data shows on the web and in the app. Unfortunately it means having to plug my watch into the computer just to see everything I used to see by just syncing with my phone. Hoping this gets fixed in the next update.

I have been having a lot of issues with my Forerunner35 and Android. It simply doesn't sync, and hasn't for the last 3 weeks.

its unfortunate because I bought it two months ago specifically to track my ongoing Bike Tour. I managed to borrow a computer a few days ago but couldn't install express so did a manual sync and it seems like there are many days of no activity recorded sadly.

its very odd because I don't think it has run out of memory because it would occasionally pick up that I was on an elliptical or a bike.

oh well. Most definitely would never buy another garmin. Not worth it .
  • Today I went out on the bicycle after putting on a speed/cadence sensor to try things out. I actually saw that my Vivoactive hr wasn't tracking distance. To make a long story a bit shorter I was having a major problem saving or even discarding an activity after ending it. I ended up doing a reset and went for a 1 mi ride to test. Everything seems to be working great again and saving at the end worked as quickly as one would expect. The heart rate graph on the main page of the app seems to be functioning as I expect again as well. I didn't see any cadence data for that 1 mi ride but everything else appears in the summary as I expect and the map of the route was accurate. I may need to make adjustments to the new sensor but my issues seem to be solved. I'll report back in a couple days also and note if all is well. In my case I have had my Vivoactive for a couple of years and this is the first time I've had such problems and the first time I did a reset.

    Reset steps I took (simplified):
    1. Go into Bluetooth setting on the phone and remove my Vivoactive HR
    2. Go into Connect app and removed my Vivoactive HR
    3. On my Vivoactive HR, went into settings > system and selected restore defaults
    4. During initial setup on the watch skipped adding it to Connect app. Once done went into Connect app and added my device.
  • Just wanted to post a follow up that since the reset everything is continuing to work as expected

Having the same problem here, even garmin express isn't showing data anymore. I have more than 70% free space on my fenix 3 hr. The android garmin app doesn't sync activities at all. Only if I pair my watch again it'll work for 1-2 syncs and then fails again. I also red that it might be a space issue but why doesn't it give a notification to backup your data on a cloud or locally and simply erase everything and start over, loading data from the cloud and newly stored data on your device? this goes on for almost 3-4 months now and I couldn't find a good fix to it. I don't want to wipe all my data. I want to at least back it up and load it from another source to see all the history since I'veb wearing the watch. This space issue should be done automatically, on a scheduled basis (eg during charging), if this is the case. I was really happy with the way this gadget worked. But now I have to waste my time in troubleshooting it. Pitty.

  • Can't  sync courses to my Edge 810. The device appears in the list, but I can't select it (green checkbox) to push courses to it.

Also, the app never gets recent activities back from the website, even if these activities, recorded by the Edge and then uploaded, obviously passed through the app.
