Garmin Coach training plan

I was using Garmin Coach and liked it, it suited me, seemed conscious of avoiding injury etc. I was nearly 14 weeks into a 15 week plan when I got a bad chest cough so paused the plan. The plan didn't have a race day at the end, simply a recommended date to try to hit my target (certain distance in certain time) . When I felt well enough to run again which was the day after the original recommended date, I went to resume the plan only to find a "congratulations this plan is complete" message in Garmin Coach, although it was paused, I had missed a week's training and never tried to hit my target. I can just do the last week and target run manually, but it's annoying and has robbed me of the satisfaction of achieving the plan, and of linking my data!
Is this bad design or am I using it wrongly?
  • @JPOF Unfortunately I think its bad design.and probably poor documentation as well - its not clear from Garmin how the pause works but what you did sounds quite logical. It does also let you move the end date of your plan (I had a number of layoffs etc first time I used the plan) but it ois not clear what the boundaries are for moving it. I moved it a couple of times (delays) but then it stopped me moving it further at a fairly abitrary point.

Many thanks, at least I know there isn't something I had done incorrectly. Previously on other plans I had also rescheduled workouts and it gave me the option of either overwriting or deleting any workout on the rescheduled day.
Interestingly, unlike the "static" training plans you can do, on which you can push the end date back, I wasn't able to do this on Garmin Coach, as it only generates the next week's workouts once you complete the current one. I suppose this is to give the impression of tailoring a customised training plan but I have no way of finding out how generic it actually is,.

Maybe Garmin is just telling me, don't get sick, or at least if I do, don't be soft, just keep running!
    Thanks
  • JPJOF I was able to push the end date back by editing the plan but it only let me move it a certain way then stopped giving me the option - I think I was able to move it about 2 weeks later than my original date.
