Garmin, please add Google Pay Support to your watches!

I know there is Garmin Pay, but at least in Germany its almost unusable. Works only with a third-party service called "Vimpay". You have to manually transfer money from your bank-account to Vimpay and then you just manually transfer money from Vimpay to the Garmin Pay Wallet. Nobody wants pre-paid Wallets anymore in 2018 and this manual actions are totally unnecessary.
  • In the UK I use the Starling Bank with Garmin Pay Nerd and it works just fine Sunglasses on the rare occasions I use it.

  • My own bank doesn't support Garmin Pay, but I checked other banks that do support it and we found one with a free account that supports 2 watches coupled to 1 physical card. I don't have to pay for it, but me and my wife both can use Garmin Pay on our watches. Maybe that is also an option for you?

  • Is it that simple? Google Pay only runs on Android and some limited support on iOS. Garmin watches run Garmin OS.

Just get a credit card that is supported and use Garmin Pay.

  • I just installed Curve, added several cards to it including HSBC (credit), Nationwide and starling. Admittedly I haven't made a payment yet but its added the curve virtual card to my watch.

  • I just don't understand why Garmin is trying to re-invent the wheel. It is like VHS and BETA in the old days of video recording or 4 track vs 8 track for audio recording... You will never win here, just accept defeat and move on guys. Just use the industry standard, Apple pay for IOS and Google pay for Android! There is not ONE Canadian bank where I can get a card that works, BRIM will not issue me a card and ATB, I have to live in Alberta to get one. Get with the times guys or get left behind! Notice BETA Video tapes are not sold anywhere and 8 Track has also gone the way of the DoDo bird.

  • Garmin don't use Wear OS or watchOS in their watches so they can't use Google or Apple Pay.

  • There are exactly 3 banks in Canada that support Garmin Pay. ATB (you have to be a resident of Alberta of which I am not) Brim Bank (never heard of it and they want an annual salary of 60k which I am just short of and expect me to pay a 250.00 annual fee for the "privilege" of having a card). The last one I don't recall but again, you have to be a resident of the province to get one.  So... NO, it is not that simple dude.

  • What does your bank says when you ask about Garmin Pay? Why does it not support it?

I think it is the banks that need to support Garmin Pay, not much that Garmin has to do.

A solution for Garmin could be to use a service like Fidesmo, but I guess it comes with a cost. Letting the banks support it is probably free for Garmin.

  • Oh, it is not true that 'there us nothing gaming can do'. Is is not the banks how wants to have apple pay or Google pay in there service, at least not in the beginning.

The intention simply came from Google and Apple, who had that interest. In the same way I expect a much more Intention from garmin to roll out  there supported systen globally. Unfortunately it looks like there are play the game on a global scale like they are suppose to be.
