Most common cause is not doing a firmware update on your garmin device. I would check Garmin Express to see if your watch is up to date first.

Attach your device to your computer and with File Explorer to browse to the Activities folder - you should be able to find the file that won't upload in there, then try doing it as a manual upload from within GC.
