Garmin Connect app

A recent update to the app means I have to have the actual app open to maintain BT connection to forerunner 35 watch with my KEYone phone. Didn't have to do this in previous versions - is anyone else having this issue. I have tried rebooting both devices, re-pairing the BT and installing the app etc - all to no avail.
  • Try disabling power optimisation for the garmin connect app.
  • Yes, I am having exactly the same problem. With my previous, ancient phone BT connection with my Garmin Edge 1000 Explore was always there. I have received phone calls, texts etc. to my Garmin and after the ride it automatically uploaded it to Garmin Connect. Now, with the new phone all this does no longer work. To sync I need to open the Garmin Connect App on my phone and only then the BT connection becomes active again. This is very annoying. The proposed solution basically suggests no never close the GC App which to me is not satisfying. I frequently close all open apps in order to save battery and maintain device performance. Since it used to work with my very old phone, there should be a smarter solution to this problem I guess. Thanks for your help.

This may be a solution for few people, but others continue to have issues with Bluetooth and GCM. This is clearly a GCM problem, at the momment i have the 4.8 version installed because it's the version more stable with my bluetooth, but i have to toogle the bluetooth 2/3 times per day.

Ummm, no, not really. This is not the same. Please note, that for the connection to remain, a background process needs to be running anyway. I do not see any adverse effects of disabling power optimisation for garmin connect. It does not seem to consume more power or cause additional computing load.

Yes, I'm aware of that. The power optimisation solution is just a workaround, which worked for me without any noticable side effects.
