Find Friends by Contacts shows many users not in the device address book

Using the Garmin Connect -> Connections -> Find Friends -> Contacts function in the mobile app, I see many entries for users who are not in my device address book. How does Garmin Connect determine the set of User Profiles that it shows in this list?

Test System: Garmin Connect App version 4.11, Android version 7.1.1.

Same problem here. Search function on Garmin Web is also usless, cause it shows me all names containing the name I put in the search, there muste be a million "Sabine"s in the system and it starts with A showning me thousands of "Ann Sabine" and expects me to manually scroll down to S? That can't really be how its meant? How do I connect with people I know?

Also found out I can send the link of my profile and people can request the connection there.
