Not Displaying Contact Names on Incoming Calls

Hi.

I'm with 4.0 firmware.Contact names are not shown in the display (incomings calls). I look in Garmin Connect App (Android) and all permissions are given for it (including Contacts). On incoming calls, the phone number apeears in 645 Music, but not the name of the contact. I have this Garmin only 5 days and before I upgrade firmware version (almost certainly, I uninstalled e reinstall Garmin Connect in my phone. It didn't solve the problem. After this, I install the Garmin Connect in other phone and it worked.

So, I think in some possibilities:
  • There is something wrong with Garmin Connect Mobile, and it needs to be updated for the 645M firmware version 4, for Android 6.0.0 (that I use in Samsung J5 - it can't be upgraded for newer Android versions);
  • There is something wrong in my phone, that even removing the app and reinstalling, it remained damaged (I don't believe much in this). It worked before 645M firmware update;
  • The last 645 firmware (4.0) has more (or full) compatibility with a more recent version of Android. My first phone (J5 - where v.4.0 doesn't work) has Android 6.0.1 (and I can't update it anymore). When I installed it in other and new phone I did it in a newer Android version (8.0.0). So, I believe more in this possibility: 645M Firmware 4.0 works with this function (display contact name) in newer Android versions, so maybe a new firmware version for 645M or a new version for Garmin Connect Mobile could solve this.
Thanks for help.

    Hi, how exactly did you "activate calls"? I'm having the same problem and I've already allowed all of the permissions.

    Thanks in advance

    same as 9034456 I went to phone settings (Galaxy s9--> Settings/Aplications/Connect aplication/Permisions/) and I gave the permission also for Contacts. It solved the problem. Now works (Before this I only saw the incoming phone number without the name of the contact)

    thank you, you're a genius!

  • Thanks.  Was having the same problem and checked the phone settings.  Gave contacts and it is now working.

  • I also had same issue, and got resolved by disabling true caller notifications from connect app. Go to Settings -> Notifications -> App Notifications -> scroll to "Truecaller" and press the swipe button.

  • I had this same issue and yes for most, making sure the Garmin app has permissions enabled for contacts works. In my case it still would not display contact name on my Garmin watch and only kept showing "Phone". I had a separate contacts app and phone app on my phone, so I think this was the problem. What I had to do is in the Garmin Connect app, go to settings, notifications, and make sure you have your contacts app enabled and your phone app disabled. As long as your phone has permissions for both phone and contacts, this fixed the problem for me.

  • I have tried everything and mine still don't show up. I think it started after I got a new phone. I've verified the permissions are correct and I don't have Truecaller. Iv also tried disabling notifications for the phone app so only contacts is enabled. Still just shows the number. Very frustrating.

  • Do you have a separate app for your phone calls and one for your contacts? That was how I fixed mine. I turned off my phone app in the garmin settings and turned on my contacts app and then the names started appearing instead of the numbers.

  • Yeah, I tried that.
